Bias in Shades

I was looking back at some of the reporting in Lebanon. A pattern emerges; each reports the news according to their own hangups.

We will see this again at the onset of the next war...

The Westerners

CNN, BBC, will see civilians dying, and will note the alleged presence of Hezb stronghold in the area, or of their weapons. They make sure the reporter is seen with lot of damage in the background, and making a lot of theatrics...

The twist: they are in a ratings battle. CNN panders to "middle" of the road voters, BBC has to pander to both a leftish europe and its government. Whatever sells... Still, their reporters have much courage.

In this group, I exclude Fox News. One word; cowboys with mikes...

As for the French, no complaints this time around...

Arab Channels: The Mainstream

Al-Arabia will see martyrs being sacrificed in the war of others, and while it will note the alleged presence of Hezb stronghold in the area, it will also point out that they are empty and the rocket launchers long gone. Depending on the time, they will invite an anti-Hezb politician to talk about their humanitarian efforts; they may try to pick a moslem for that... Or they will invite a pro-Syrian who will utter platitudes about the greater struggle; they may try and find a non-moslems for that...

The twist: it is Saudi owned, but Lebanese run...

The Lebanese: "March 14"...

Who said we were monolithic? In this camp, I will focus on LBC; MTV is long dead, and so are some of the most brilliant reporters... fida Aboul-Mich?...

LBC will also see martyrs being sacrificed in the war of others, and will higlight the presence of Hezb strongholds and bunkers. It will still consider that the response is disproportionate. It may even remind everyone that Israel and Syria have, wittingly or not, connived to let Hezb grow its tentacles; this will not be said in the news, but in the talk show following the news. This will also be uttered by some invited guest... There may even be a clip inserted within the ads lamenting the Lebanon of yore...

With a twist: LBC still has scores to settle with the Syrians and their minions. They tried to kill one of their star anchors, didn't they? But there is little they can do for now...

Some think that the Ron Arad report is a sop to Hezb, the LBC has irked Shater Hassan in the past. The video may allow it to close the Ron Arad matter once and for all; in the 1990's, they did promise they would give information in exchange for psycho-Kuntar.

Psucho-Kuntar? Now I am showing a bias; come on! He only bashed the skull of that child by accident...

Still, with the video, Hezb has in effect done its part of the bargain, a few years, a few dead, and a few Billions too late. It can all backfire in the long run, but it still did its part of the bargain...

The Syrians...

Al-Jazeera, NTV. Yes, like it or not, Al-Jazeera, once the most professional Arab TV, has been taken over by a motley crew of Ikhwan and Syrian National Socialists.

Their star presenter had initially leave Algeria, fleeing Islamic extremists; now she finds herself working for them. Now that is the secularism Arabs can live with...

And the Lebanese channel NTV? well, NTV's owner hates Hariri. His passion carries over to everything Hariri touched. Everything and everyone. Yesterday, NTV kinda opposed the Syrians. Today, the pro-Hariri camp is opposed to Syria; so NTV supports them. Tahya!

But they both still make good TV, and deliver some timely facts; they are not as rabidly hand-clapping-Syrians are the rest of the Syrian "media"... Still, thanks to their stance, or their distance, they risk comparatively very little.

On those channels, you will see martyrs being massacred by indiscriminate firepower, and not that Hezb fighters were not present in the area AT THE TIME of the bombing. of course, the planes are late; they attack after the fact. They tend to be biased towards "Greater Syria"; hoping to reinforce Baby Assad's hold over the throne.

In the shadow of the Brammertz, the boy revels in the soplight. Maybe he is looking for votes in Israel...

Al Manar: the Voice of the Tribe...

Al Manar is simply tribal; it role is to proclaim hate for the jews, to advance the great Arab revolution, or encourage a Shiite "revival". Take your pick.

Even the rabid coverage by LBC, during the time of the great Aoun-Geagea "debates", was nothing compared to a smart and slick production of an essentially powerful, hateful, message.

No matter that those self-hating semite forget that they were next on Adolf's list for a "final solution"... In any case, their Iranian patrons would be classified as Aryans. Ah, les bon-Aryens...

Today, the new fascist message resonates among many. And thanks to Mad-&-Deaf-Ehud's antics, the indiscriminate Israeli bombing is an excellent recruiting tool. They revel in showing paramedics shot, churches destroyed, without mentioning that rocket launchers may have been nearby. People I talk to about this dismiss it as "another matter"... In any case, those rockets are our only protection, right?

The twist: Shiites in the Arab world were always downtrodden. It is only with the Syrian occupation that they truly came into their own.

Arab Shiites may not necessarily martyr themselves for Aryan/Persian Iran, but enough of them will die until the "tribe" gets what it feel it deserves.

Persians, after all, are an ancient and wily race... They know how to do it "just right"

The Israeli Media:

All the channels showcase a bunch of idiots. none of their worthwhile reporters speak or read Arabic, and few can point Lebanon main towns on a map.

Or even Lebanon, for that matter.

I have never seen so much "learned ignorance"; Fox news is easier to watch in comparision...

None of those idiots realise that there is not such a thing as a smart bomb; talking about those may even be counterproductive, because no one will believe when one of those "smart" bombs make a booboo..

In any case, as long as stupid politicians are at the helm, there may be no such a thing as "smart" bomb.

Only in comparison to the idiot who orders its deployment..
